Shows two diagrams which are represented as trees with their descriptions.

On the left, we have Doublet, which shows a pair of words having *different* meanings in the *same* language. This is illustrated using an example of Wheel and Cycle in the same language, English.
Wheel and Cycle has as their etymon: *kʷékʷlos
        Wheel means “A circular object”
Cycle means “A process that repeats itself”
The tree notation shows etymon branching to two meanings, Meaning 1 and Meaning 2. Meaning 1 connects to Cycle, and Meaning 2 connects to Wheel.

On the right we have Cognate which shows a pair of words which have the same meaning, but are in different languages. The examples used are भ्राता (Sanskrit) and Brother (English). Both have the same etymon *bʰréh₂tēr meaning as “A man with the same parents as another”.

The diagram shows Etymon connecting to a single meaning which then branches to two words भ्राता and Brother.
